This training introduces a blend of evidence-based and emerging best practices designed to strengthen clinician self-care in the face of repeated exposure to acute crises, traumatic experiences, and the cumulative impact of vicarious trauma. Participants will gain practical, sustainable strategies to support their professional longevity and personal well-being. Throughout the session, we will: • Define trauma and explore its psychological and physiological impact • Differentiate between traumatic events and the experience of trauma • Examine the concept of vicarious trauma and its effects on clinicians • Define Post-Traumatic Stress and discuss how it may manifest in both clients and providers This course is designed to offer clarity, validation, and actionable tools for professionals working in high-intensity clinical environments.

  • Demonstrate examples of fight, flight, or freeze responses while working, and when not Understanding trauma
  • Identify strategies empirically supported to improve clinician self-care best practices
  • Gain skills in mindfulness to reduce vicarious trauma through breathing techniques, mindfulness and body scanning
