When Quality Becomes Ethical: Ethical Decision-Making in Behavioral Health Care

CE Hours 2

About this live event

This presentation examines the evolving relationship between ethics, quality, and clinical decision-making in behavioral health care. Participants will explore how ethical responsibilities extend beyond regulatory compliance and influence treatment planning, clinical documentation, patient rights, safety practices, professional boundaries, and organizational culture. Through real-world behavioral health scenarios, guided reflection, and audience engagement, attendees will examine how quality-driven decisions can either strengthen or compromise ethical care delivery. The training will provide practical strategies for navigating complex clinical and operational challenges while maintaining ethical integrity, patient-centered care, and professional accountability.

Learning Objectives

  • Describe the relationship between ethical practice and quality outcomes within behavioral health treatment settings.
  • Identify ethical risks associated with clinical documentation, treatment planning, communication practices, and operational decision-making.
  • Examine how organizational culture, regulatory expectations, and workplace pressures can influence ethical clinical judgment.
  • Apply ethical decision-making strategies to behavioral health scenarios involving patient rights, professional boundaries, safety concerns, and quality-of-care challenges.
